The Duke of Edinburgh and his anti-windfarm comments were toasted by the villagers of Churchover as they celebrated winning the fight against Scottish and Southern Energy’s proposal to build wind turbines across one of Warwickshire’s heritage beauty spots, the meandering Swift Valley below the conservation village of Churchover.

On Wednesday 7th September 2011, Rugby Borough Council's Planning Committee unanimously refused planning consent for the proposed wind power station near Churchover.

Campaign for the Protection of Rural England's new report on Windfarms

CPRE Northants believe that it is becoming increasingly evident that wind power generation onshore in the UK is failing to live up to its promise. Any environmental good from carbon savings is a fraction of that suggested by the wind industry and the very modest quantities of electricity produced are of limited use. Furthermore it imposes a disproportionate economic and operational burden on the rest of the electricity generation network.

Parish Council / ASWAR meeting WED June 22nd, 7.30pm Churchover village hall

The windfarm proposal is now registered at Rugby Borough Council and we are into a consultation period and count down to a determination by the elected local planning committee.  Every body who wants to object should come to this meeting, hear about the detail of the proposals, vote on them and find out how you can help do something to stop it happening.
